LEGO Technic Excavator

I somewhat balked at the price at first.(College student, minimum wage job, you get the idea)br /br /It's larger than the images would lead you to believe. Once its assembled its quite large.br /br /The instructions are VERY GOOD! You cannot go wrong, if you pay attention.br /br /My only real complaint, is still the price, if it were 30.00, it would be a lot more accessible. But with it being 59.99, I can only buy one at the moment, and I would like to have bought a couple more.br /br /One set would stay as the TrackHoe, and then the other one I could build the alternative model, and then with the last one, I could have spare parts to build my own creation.br /br /The Lego pieces are all very High Quality, everything snaps together like a charm. It's amazing to see a toy/model/machine, this well engineered.br /br /I used to love legos, then kinda grew out of em. But now I am getting into Diesel Mechanics(college), and I just wanted to change my thinking, my perspective to some degree. It seems like my creativity has went down a WHOLE lot, compared to when I was younger, and trying to get that back. Trying to get that spark back so to say. To do good at your job, or at your college work, you have to be enthusiastic about it.br /br /So that is what made me purchase this set, and I can honestly say it was well worth the money!br /br /I really look forward to the Track Crane set that Lego is bringing out next year in January. (hopefully it will be in a good value)br /br /

We have resisted buying these because they seemed so cheap...also the usual question we parents always ask ourselves..."What are they going to do with them?" br /br /Our son received his first bionicle from a friend on his ninth birthday...it was cleverly the "bow" on a birthday present. I now regret overlooking this wonderful line of "lego's" for so long! My boys love these! They have the best time building them and an even better time playing with them. br /br /They are priced reasonably so you can always pick-up one as a treat during trips out "shopping". If you encourage your children to "save-up" for some of their "wants", the cost of these is low enough that it doesn't take them months and months to realize their goal. br /br /Please do not make the same mistake I made and misjudge these toys. You will be denying your child a great experience. br /Although the manufacturer suggests ages 7 and up, I do not feel a child younger than 8 or 9 would be able to indendently put this toy together. My 7 year old needs some help putting these together, but he loves to try all by himself. That is the point of Lego's, to construct and play. The primary benefit, in my opinion, is the satisfaction of "doing it" yourself! br /br /A definate A+ for our boys! br /Rosemarybr /

This set is a great addition to even an expansive Lego collection. Movement, sound, unusual gold elements, and more! Yes, the set is challenging but with patience I believe even less-experienced builders will be successful.br /br /TIPS FOR BUILDING: br /1. Since the bags are not numbered, you need to spend a little time in the beginning sorting parts. It's not necessary to COMPLETELY sort them, but getting things separated by color alone would be helpful.br /2. The carousel is built as a series of modules, where you construct the same item multiple times before assembling the section. If you have kids who can't build this set alone, they can still help by "copying" a module that you have correctly built. Many hands make quick work!br /3. It is CRITICAL that the moving elements be assembled with the proper amount of ease between parts. The manual clearly reminds you not to "mash" certain pieces too tightly together. Violating this guidance will cause your moving pieces to work herky-jerky or seize up completely.br /4. Test the movement as you go! Once you have the base complete and the motor attached, you should test the movement (both forward and backward) to ensure everything is moving smoothly. It's much simpler to make minor fitting adjustments at this point. Continue to test the motion after each layer is added to the base.br /br /As far as the music goes, my son said "That's like leprechaun music!" when we turned it on for the first time. True, it is not something we could normally hear on a carousel here in the US, but it's still festive.br /br /For price, I got this for around 0 which seems like a reasonable price. This item like many other unusual Lego sets, will eventually be in short supply and high demand, so it's worth getting it now. You never lose your investment in Lego, I have found!br /br /Great to look at, interesting movement and sound, and a conversation-starter when you have guests over. They will be amazed at the detail!
